A&M cast-offs?

There's a story in Wednesday's Morning News about nine scholarship players leaving the A&M team, which of course led me to speculate about the chance of SMU having any interest.

True freshman MLB TaTa Thompson
Leaving the team for "personal reasons." The story does not make it sound like he's leaving school, so if he plays again, I assume it will be at A&M.

Redshirt freshman LB Lamar Mitchell
Never heard of the guy. Leaving for personal reasons.

Redshirt freshman DL Tate Pittman
I think I remember him being pretty highly-touted coming out of HS. Did he play at A&M, or ride the bench? Leaving for personal reasons.

Junior WR Anthony Wright
No need to add a (presumably) marginal WR for one season. Leaving for personal reasons.

Sophomore OL Brandon Flanagan
Leaving because of academics.

Sophomore OL Kelvin Flood (of Dallas Kimball)
Leaving because of academics.

Junior OL Quentin Holman
Leaving because of academics.

Junior DL Brian Patrick
Another guy I've never heard of. Taking "injury retirement" route.

OL Kasey Cheshier (of Duncanville)
Graduated in December.

Of these guys, I would guess that MAYBE Pittman and/or Mitchell might hold some level of interest for the SMU coaches. Any aggies out there who can offer more of a scouting report? Could we take them even if we wanted to?

How big is Tate Pittman? Can he play?
Is there baggage there?

You don't want to carry Pittman's baggage. He is the one who was caught exposing himself to girls on campus (multiple occasions).

Lamar Mitchell was a 5 star LB as was TaTa. Ta Ta is apparently giving up football altogether. Don't know the story on Lamar.
