Massey Leads SMU Phil Steele Selections With All-America Nod

CLEVELAND (Phil Steele/SMU) – Kick return specialist Bryan Massey led 10 Mustangs with an All-America nod on Phil Steele Magazine's preseason list of accolades. In addition to Massey, nine other student-athletes were named to All-American Athletic Conference teams by the organization.

Bryan Massey | KR | Second-Team All-American/Second-Team All-AAC
Saw action in all 12 games, making two starts... Had a team-leading 20 kick returns for 686 yards (12th NCAA, 11th all-time SMU) and two TDs (2nd NCAA)... Averaged 36.1 per return (1st AAC)... His two return TDs tied the SMU single-season and career record... Posted three 100-yard return games (Tulane, at Houston, Tulsa)... Registered 29 tackles (22 solo), including 1.5 TFLs for two yards... Added one interception for 48 yards and six pass breakups... Finished with 734 all-purpose yards... AWARDS: Second-Team All-AAC... DeVere Levelston | DT | First-Team All-AAC
Saw action in all 12 games, making 11 starts... Registered 38 tackles (19 solo), including team-highs with 10.5 TFLs for 41 yards and 6.5 sacks (2nd AAC) for 30... Had five QB hurries and a fumble recovery... Registered 11 tackles at Navy... AWARDS: PFF All-AAC Fourth Team... Phil Steele All-AAC Fourth Team... PFF Team of the Week (Oct. 11).

Elijah Chatman | DT | First-Team All-AAC

Tanner Mordecai | QB | Second-Team All-AAC
Started all 12 games... Was 308-for-454 (.678, 15th NCAA) passing for 3,628 yards (12th NCAA, 1st AAC, 3rd SMU) and a school-record 39 TDs (5th NCAA, 1st AAC)... His 308 completions rank second at SMU, while his 454 attempts rank ninth... Posted eight 300-yard games and five games with 4+ passing TDs... Registered six games with 4+ total TDs... His seven passing TDs in the season opener against ACU set the SMU single-game record... The 427 yards against Tulane are ninth for a Mustang... I'd like to see the guy who got the nod over Massey. I was on my feet just about every time he touched the ball.
