After yesterday are we now facing Back2Back2Back losses?

Postby Insane_Pony_Posse » Sun Sep 25, 2022 11:51 am

After yesterday, are we now facing Back2Back2Back losses?

We now sit at 2-2

UCF beat Georgia Tech by 17 yesterday.

I was hoping we could win one of these three tough games.

We need to find a way to beat UCF on the road at the bounce house!

I am now very worried.

If we lose three in a row, 8 wins is going to be a real challenge.

I would not be surprised if we lose 4-5 more games. Especially if TM remains in the game for most of the time.

We could easily lose in Orlando to UCF and fall to 2-3 on the season in which case the bye week will come just in time. I still think our guys will find a way to win 3 of these next 5 games and finish 7-5 or better.

I’m not sure what you mean “we could lose 4-5 more games if TM stays in.” You do realize he was immediately named started over Stone and the true freshman, right? You don’t think there might have been a reason for that?

I would say we would lose even more games if Mordecai is not the starter

Only if we are behind by 14 at halftime.
May the forth be with us.

I said I think our guys will win 3 out of 5 and finish at least 7-5 but after tonight's display and knowing they will now need to win 3 of 4 (I'm also now assuming Cincy will slaughter us once again) I'm no longer thinking that will be the case. I'm now just hoping that will be the case but have very little confidence after their performance tonight

was glad to see Preston get some playing time. Actually, IMO he played reasonably well considering he came in cold.

He gets the ball out quickly. Not sure how well he sees the field but noticeable difference in how quickly he makes a decision and delivers the ball

IIRC in the past he did pretty well at checking out all the receivers before throwing. perhaps the ucf defense was much faster than what he was used to. he will learn quickly with more experience.

I’m beginning to doubt Rhett Lashlee. But if we have to wait 5 years for him to get his guys in, I’m afraid I can’t wait that long.

Agreed, but what are the options? You cant fire a coach in the first year or two. And really if you are firing/hiring coaches every 3-5 years that hardly ever works out.

Just accept it's always the story....just wait a few more years....but reality is we wait and then either we fire the coach or he gets hired away.

The delusions are always "I think he really likes Dallas"...."he's the exception and wants to retire here".."his wife and kids are tied into the community...they go to school here"..."he's been an SMU fan since he was a kid".....

It's always "just around the corner."..."we will compete for the conference championship within 2 years"....."he'll stay just like Gary Patterson did".....blah blah blah

I have just accepted reality....the sooner you accept reality, the less frustrated you will be...it's quite liberating.

The last 25 years back my logic....so I am thrilled with winning seasons and will support, cheer, and enjoy my Mustangs if we win 6, 7, 8, 9+ games a year....and people will say "THATS A LOSER MENTALITY.....well that's what it's been for 25 years....and why are you still here then if it's UNACCEPTABLE?

there is only one main consistent piece in the last 25+ years and that starts and ends with Gerald Turner. It applies to our lack of progress on both the academic side (which to me is the most important part) but also on the football and sports side (which after all the amounts of money invested and thrown into this) we should be in a much better position than where we are at. The buck has to stop with someone, and it is long past due we bring in someone to lead us who can get this university into a top 50 national ranking, Tier 1 carnegie classification and the sports programs into a Power conference.
