SMU at UCF postponed until Sunday

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has the following change to its 2022 football schedule:

SMU at UCF will be played Sunday, Oct. 2, at 1 p.m. ET/Noon CT at FBC Mortgage Stadium in Orlando, Florida.

Television distribution will be announced at a later date. The game was previously scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 1, at 3:30 p.m. ET.

It is predicted that Ian will be in Virginia on Sunday. That said Orlando could still be cleaning up, but likely game will be played. It was a sell out for Saturday.

Buddy of mine went to UCF and has been sending me videos all night. They are getting hit with outer bands right now. The meat of the storm is going to hit them around 0200. We will have a good sense of how bad it is by tomorrow.

Orlando has received a foot of rain so far, roughly the amount that the SMU campus got a couple of weeks ago. No idea on wind damage or power outages. But I’d be surprised if the game time is changed again. Probably shouldn’t have been changed in the first place.

MCO opens today, according to She Who Must Be Obeyed. Stacey has been in Orlando for the last 5 days doing consulting work and visiting family, flies out to Nashville Sunday for additional consulting for a banking convention.

She did say that all carriers were accepting reschedule at no charge departing the airport, as apparently a LOT of folks are back-scheduled.

She said lots of things are bent, but still functional. SW Florida? That's a different story...
