Rice Named Biletnikoff Award Semifinalist

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (TQC/SMU) – Rashee Rice was today announced as one of 12 semifinalists for the Biletnikoff Award, which honors the college football season's outstanding FBS receiver and is presented annually by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation, Inc. The award recognizes any player, regardless of position (wide receiver, tight end, slot back and running back) who catches a pass.

2022 is the 14th consecutive season a Mustang has been honored on the list, and Rice is the fourth to earn the semifinalist distinction, joining James Proché (2019), Trey Quinn (2017) and Aldrick Robinson (2010).

Rice leads the nation in receiving yards (1,208) and receiving yards per game (109.8) and is fifth in receptions per game (7.5) and 11th in receiving TDs (9). He currently has a streak of 39 straight games with a reception (4th NCAA). Rice posted career highs in receptions (12 at UCF) and yards (193 at Maryland) in 2022. He has three 150+ yard games.

The senior has nine career 100-yard games, including five in 2022, and has five multi-TD games, three coming this season.

A Reese's Senior Bowl Invitee, Rice was also named a second-team midseason All-American by The Athletic and Pro Football Focus, and is a member of the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Watch List. Following the Mustangs’ win at Tulsa, Rice was named the East-West Shrine Bowl Breakout Offensive Player of the week for a nine reception, 180-yard two-TD performance. He has landed on the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll twice and the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Honorable Mention list three times.

The semifinalists, finalists and award recipient are selected by the highly distinguished Biletnikoff Award National Selection Committee, a group of 610 prominent college football journalists, commentators, announcers, Biletnikoff Award winners and other former receivers.

Fans may vote once daily on the Biletnikoff Award FanVote page. The aggregate fan tally will be counted toward official national selection committee votes to determine finalists (three receivers) and the winner.

The 2022 Biletnikoff Award winner will be presented the Biletnikoff Award trophy by TQC Foundation Chairman Mark Ryan and the banquet keynote speaker Drew Pearson, member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, at the black-tie Biletnikoff Award Banquet & Celebration at the Dunlap Champions Club, at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee on March 4.

Rice and the Mustangs host Memphis in the regular season finale on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. CT.

Good for Rashee. He has had a couple of bumpy games lately, but to put up the numbers he has while dealing with his injury is incredible. We're going to miss him next year.
