There are coaches who accept other jobs but delay announcement until after their current teams finish up their seasons. They can make the phone calls to quietly assemble a staff without doing that to the players who played for them and in many cases chose those schools for them. There's a right way to move on and there's the Chad Morris/Sonny Dykes way.

Also: Fritz has done a nice job. Will be interesting to see who Tulane gets next.

I was at the SMU Sam Houston State game years ago when Fritz was the SHSU coach. I marveled then at how well coached and prepared his team was. This guy can coach and recruit ( even with barriers like TU facilities and NOLA murder rate, is the highest in the nation).

Georgia Tech is promoting interim coach Brent Key to permanent head coach, sources tell
@SInow. Key, a GT alum with wide support in Atlanta, went 4-4 in the interim this year.

Lots to speculate in this case. Fritz might not appreciate anything being leaked before Tulane's playing in the AAC Championship or might prefer to move on to a program that will have a better chance of winning a conference championship than Ga Tech does in the ACC. At his age, another move would undoubtedly be his last so he would probably want a big guarantee which could also have been a factor, not to mention the possibility Tulane will throw a new contract and more money at him in hopes he will stay and retire there.

Ive been impressed with fritz since got there. One of the few AAC coaches I’d consider trying to nab if we ever need to. I’m guessing our pay can be bigger.
