74 years ago Saturday, 67,000 were in the Cotton Bowl to see Doak Walker and SMU play to a 7-7 tie with TCU. 76 years ago, at Carter Stadium in Ft Worth, TCU and SMU played to a 19-19 tie, with Doak, who believe it or not, was the SMU extra point kicker, missing an extra point kick in the last minute to settle for the 19-19 tie.

Those were the days, way before the Cowboys. Doak is the reason I chose to go to SMU.

The Doaker played during my Dad's days at SMU.

Maxon and Morris, the M&M boys, All-Americas Robert Popelka, Louie Kelcher, and Ricky Wesson
played during mine.

81...83 was my time on campus and we never lost a game.

It would be nice if NIL could get us back to that.

Go Mustangs!
