Is NIL really more $ than the NFL?

Per Bruce Feldman's Twitter account:

@BruceFeldmanCFB

Wisconsin has emerged as a favorite to land SMU star QB Tanner Mordecai who has thrown for over 7100 yards with 72 TDs and just 22 INTs the past two seasons, per source.

Needs a better resume to move up in the draft I guess.

If your draft stock is ~4th round or worse, I would say certainly NIL is more lucrative. For a guy with TM’s skill set and resume, it may even push higher than a 4th rounder.

New Wisconsin coach Luke Fickell knows him from Fickell's days at Cincinnati, but it doesn't look like Mordecai is even guaranteed to start. Wisconsin also got Nick Evers from Oklahoma.

Either way, thank you, Tanner, and good luck.

Mordecai isn’t NFL talent. I highly doubt he’d get drafted in this year’s draft

What happened to the NFL? What happened to Mr. All Pro? Mr. Mediocrity couldn’t produce in the AAC, he has no chance in the Big 10 assuming he ever gets on the field.
A long tradition of existence.

Weird. Didn't even consider he would be back next year. Thought it was a done deal he was off to try his luck in the NFL. Makes it more likely our young, talented QBs will stay. Good luck to him.

What if Evers wins the job? Third OU quarterback to win the starting job over him. And his draft stock would be nonexistent. This seems a real risk. He’s flirting with an Uncle Rico future.

I’m thinking Bo Levi Mitchell II…the all-time leader in all QB stats for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, something like that, which is NOT a bad gig.

I loved watching Tanner accomplish all of the things he did at SMU and I think that he was a good leader. But when I look at the current crop of really talented QBs in the NFL I don't see Tanner rising above a journeyman back-up in that league and I wonder even about that.Wisconsin seems really happy to have him so no doubt he is getting a very lucrative NIL deal. Good luck Tanner and use that money wisely.

The days of the mercenary college player are among us. It really makes you appreciate a true Mustang like Rashee Rice who could have left for a paycheck but remained loyal. Rashee will be remembered as one of our all time greats. I’m excited for Preston.

I think Preston will do better than Tanner in Lashlee's offense. I am looking forward to seeing what is to come.
