How so? It's being nationally talked about and the PAC 12 commissioner came to visit the school and take in an otherwise meaningless basketball game.

It may not happen, but it's not crazy to believe it will.

Coog is regretting that marriage to the Big 12.

How so? We host UT on-campus for the first time in 22 years and we have 7 games against in-state teams while being a P5 member.

SMU meanwhile is talking about going to a California-based conference for free because they're so desperate for an invite ANYWHERE.

Take the worst-case scenario: Oregon and Washington manage to jump ship, and then the Big 12 plucks Arizona, ASU, Colorado and Utah. Making more money while playing the likes of Washington State and Oregon State and Cal and Stanford, plus some fill-ins, is still a lot better than Charlotte and FAU.

Yeah, I'd happily take a conference schedule against:

Washington State
Oregon State
Cal
Stanford
SDSU
Fresno? UNLV? Boise?
Temple? Rice?

Over the likes of FAU, Charlotte, UNT, UAB, UTSA.

Why is this so important to you? I'm really curious why you have so much interest in our program.

As an advocate of an invitation for SDSU and SMU to join the PAC-12, I find it interesting some BigXII fans are enthusiastic about expanding and publicly campaigning for the Four Corner (CO, UT, AZ, and ASU) schools.

With others suggesting that OR and WA go to the B1G10 now or in the near future, either or both scenarios could mean the demise of the PAC-12. Leaving aside SMU's desire to join a P5 Conference, I fail to see why college football benefits from a diminished PAC12 with or without us.

In any case, the P2 conferences (B1G10 and SEC) followed by three remaining P5 Conferences should be desirable. The desire to raid the PAC-12 by any conference is less about adding teams than reducing the PAC-12 to less than a P5 and slightly more than a G5. This doesn't benefit college football.

Baylor and TCU believe they have significant interest in preventing the sleeping giant that is SMU from awakening. Both actively blocked B12 consideration of SMU. And I believe that both may be actively trying to tear down the PAC-12 via a propaganda campaign.

If we get into a stable P5 situation, they may find that they would have been better off keeping us close.

I think the whole thing is, yes, short sighted zero-sum-game thinking. And I think it’s sad.

Ponyboy, I agree. Add TCU and Texas Tech to that group. If PAC-12 can hang together I think it will be a much better conference than the B12 and the B12 teams know it - thus the interest.

I agree with these last two points. If the B12 had been more strategic and not let Baylor, TCU and tech try to block our invite, they would have gotten ahead of any potential interest from other conferences trying to have a presence in the DFW area. We all know these schools don’t want SMU to compete on equal footing. What I find incredible is that the B12 feels it can be the protagonist here because of the new media deal they have but honestly, I would take the PAC 12 sans USC and UCLA over the B12 sans UT and OU any day of the week and twice on Sunday. The B12 gained nothing from Cincy and I would argue with UCF. They brought them both in at their highest peaks. We would have made much more sense.

The Big XII features teams that were at one point in time left behind. NE, CO and MO left. A&M left. UT and OU left. So now they think CO will want to re-join them? UH was left behind when the SWC broke up. TCU was left behind when the WAC and SWC blew up. BYU has been ignored forever. UCF was shunned by the BE for years until they were needed. Cincy and WV were left behind by the BE and the ACC didn't want them. So, it is truly the island of misfit toys and UH is now living on that Island.

I just assume that people who continually troll around on other school's message boards are either adolescents or socially undeveloped adults with little going on in their lives. Maybe I am wrong and there is a more compelling explanation.

Apparently the Big XII is interested in Fresno State. They'll fit right in.
