Big 12 reportedly in contact with Colorado, other Four Corner schools

There is a saying that I’ve grown quite fond of lately that fits well with the Pac-12’s current situation: “Well, if it isn’t the consequences of my own actions.”

The Pac-12’s previous leadership was uninspiring — to put it nicely — and the ongoing media rights negotiations have not gone well for the current leadership. Because of this, other conferences smell blood in the water.

Colorado has once again been dragged into rumors of realignment, as multiple outlets have reported that the Big 12 is in contact with the Pac-12’s Four Corners schools of Utah, Colorado, Arizona and Arizona State. This alignment would give the Big 12 three new markets and 16 total teams to match the Big Ten and SEC. The Big 12 is losing Texas and Oklahoma, but it could potentially add the defending Pac-12 football champs and Coach Prime on top of the already finalized deals with UCF, BYU, Cincinnati and Houston.

It’s easy to see why the Big 12 would want to pull the trigger and pry away these schools from a Pac-12 Conference that looks weak at the moment.

The Pac-12 needs to do something big or face the real possibility of folding to the next wave of realignment.

Exactly, clickbait and dirty laundry sells. A lot of Doom and gloomers are going to be disappointed, if and when things work out for the Mustangs.
