From SMUMustangs.com:

Rice Selected In Second Round Of The 2023 NFL Draft

KANSAS CITY (SMU) – SMU's Rashee Rice was selected in the 2023 NFL Draft, joining 174 previous Mustangs selected in NFL Drafts. Nine Mustangs have been drafted since 2018.

Rice was selected in the-second round as the 55th overall pick by the Kansas City Chiefs. He is the fifth Mustang wide receiver to be selected in the Draft since 2018.

Rice finished the regular season as the FBS leader in receiving yards (1,355, SMU record) and receiving yards per game (112.9) and was fifth in receptions per game (8.0) and 11th in receiving TDs (10). He finished his career with a streak of 40 straight games with a reception (4th FBS). Rice posted career highs in receptions (13 vs. Memphis) and yards (193 at Maryland) in 2022, and had three 150+ yard games.

He registered 10 career 100-yard games, including six in 2022, and had five multi-TD games, three coming this season.

Among the NCAA FBS career active ranks, Rice finished his career in the top 10 for receptions (4th, 233), receiving yards (T5th, 3,111), receptions per game (7th, 5.30), receiving TDs (8th, 25) and receiving yards per game (8th, 70.7).

In his senior season, Rice was named a second-team All-American by the Associated Press, the Walter Camp Award, the FWAA and Pro Football Focus. He was a first-team All-American Athletic Conference selection and was a semifinalist for both the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award and the Biletnikoff Award.

Rice accepted invites to the NFL Combine and Reese's Senior Bowl at the conclusion of the season.

Considering how big a Rashee Rice fan I am, I can't believe I UNDERsold him with my third round guess.
Congrats, 11!

Nice moment on NFL Network when Andy Reid was interviewed about the Chiefs' picks — the one who matters, of course, being Rashee Rice.

Reid talked about Rice's many attributes, but then talked about how KC owner Clark Hunt is an SMU grad, and how his family has been watching Rice for years.

When asked about Mahomes had worked out with Rice at in Dallas (at SMU's Armstrong Fieldhouse), Reid backpedaled a little, suggesting Mahomes didn't have much influence on the pick. Seems hard to imagine that if the all-world QB identified Rice as someone he wanted to throw to that the team wouldn't put a lot of stock in that vote.
