Yep, the University hires the coaches. The coaches instill a culture and highlight the players they need. The NIL helps secure commitments. The players have to focus and execute what they have been taught. The fans are there for the applause. It takes a village.

SMU just needs to win and win big (beating OU and/or TCU this year would certainly help). Clearly investments are being made so regardless of who we are competing against, it's time to win a conference championship and bowl game. For all the talk of hopefully joining a P5 conference, it would be nice to at least win at the G5 level, something SMU has yet to accomplish! I just hope all the guys coming in via the portal have hearts of champions.

Torch uo in norman? Some true optimists on this board. SMU has beaten Oklahoma
once and that was a close game (1968). We have never won at their house. I expect
Venables to have them rolling. A loss to SMU would have writers like little man tramel
calling for his head. Would love to see this scenario but I'm a realist.
