How was Crowd vs. PV A&M?

Postby smuhype » Sun Sep 17, 2023 9:05 am

Was out of town and couldn't make it.

Please advise on how the crowd was --- decent? Everyone leave after halftime?

We are on the right track!

*Good crowd approaching 25,000
*Prairie View Band was fantastic
*Our cheerleading groups are really GOOD especially the co-ed squad (they did a stadium chant and it worked!)
*Excellent student attendance
*Excellent Boulevard
*Fun band night

Still need to work on staying past halftime, but this game was over a few minutes into the game.

Sound is a problem but likely due to renovation,

It was a fun day and night!

It didn't look horrible on TV. A lot better than so many SMU games I've watched where that side of the stadium is wasteland.

Crowd was decent. The PV band took up a whole section. Add in all the high school bands in attendance and it looked decent, especially considering the non-exciting opponent. But I would say everyone was excited to see the bands halftime performance.

Crowd looked great around the stadium.
PVAM band's performance was fantastic.

Sadly, their attitudes and character after the game, ruined my view of them. My 11yr old and I stayed, high-fived both teams, listened to the band play until they were done.

As we were walking out the gates towards Doak, the bass drum crew refused to let us pass. Telling us to walk around the entire band. I, politely asked to be let through, and they continued to block our exit. They were not in any kind of formation standing at attention, just standing talking.
Look, I'm 6"1, 350, they weren't stopping me, but ,I again politley said excuse us, their trombone player tried to block us using his slide. I told them, we were going through like it, or not. I put my hand on the slide blocking my son, and the player moved his instrument out of our way. I don't know what their intentions were, but I was extremely disappointed.

Sad. Especially in the presence of your child...sounds like you handled the situation with measured calm and control.

People in groups are a different cut of cloth...no matter who they are.

Student section was virtually empty after halftime

Members of the PV band will no doub mention our gracious, 350 pound fan who forced his way through the band. Good work, Numbero Uno.

I'm sure they were just sticking up for their team. Still, sad way to behave in front of kids.

My daughter went to the game with a couple of alumnae friends. She sent me a picture, wore her red pommie boots! Thanks Lucchese, lol.
