Daniels Jr. Named AAC Special Teams Player Of The Week

IRVING, Texas - SMU wide receiver Roderick Daniels Jr. was named the American Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week in a release by the conference on Monday.

This is the first time the Duncanville native has won the award in his collegiate career.

Daniels Jr. provided the backbreaking touchdown on special teams as SMU stayed atop the AAC standings with a 55-0 win at Temple this past Friday. Daniels, after the Mustangs forced a three-and-out on Temple's first possession of the third quarter, returned the punt 67 yards for a touchdown, becoming the first SMU player to score on a punt return since 2013.

The junior finished up his day with 105 all-purpose yards, his fourth career game with at least 100.

The Mustangs return to action this upcoming Saturday to take on Tulsa at home. Kick is set for 11 a.m. and can be seen on ESPNU.
