Stone Selected As Davey O’Brien Great 8 Quarterback For Week 8

FORT WORTH, Texas - SMU quarterback Preston Stone was selected as one of the eight quarterbacks to the Davey O'Brien Great 8 list for week eight in a release by the Davey O'Brien Foundation on Monday.

This is Stone's first appearance on the prestigious list.

Stone continued his breakout year with another impressive outing at Temple this past Friday as SMU rolled to a 55-0 victory. The Dallas native tied a career high with 300 yards passing to go with two touchdowns. He also rushed for another score on a career-long 21-yard run.

Stone finished with a career-best 321 total yards in the game.

The Mustangs continued their winning ways, improving to 5-2 on the year and remaining unbeaten in the American Athletic Conference at 3-0.

The Davey O'Brien Foundation was created in 1977, and the National Quarterback Award, the oldest and most prestigious college quarterback award, was first issued in 1981. Over its time, the Davey O'Brien Foundation has given away more than $1.3 million in scholarships and university grants to help high school and college athletes transform leadership on the field into leadership in life.

The Mustangs return to action this upcoming Saturday to take on Tulsa at Ford Stadium for as part of Homecoming weekend. Kick is set for 11 a.m. and can be seen on ESPNU.
