DENTON – A second-half rally fell short on Saturday, as the Mean Green dropped their fifth one-score game on Saturday at DATCU Stadium with a 37-29 defeat at the hands of UTSA.

Junior quarterback Chandler Rogers threw for 272 yards and two touchdowns on 20-of-38 passing but was also intercepted twice – both on balls batted at the line of scrimmage – to end his nation-long streak of 288 pass attempts without an interception.

The Mean Green (3-6, 1-4 AAC) trailed 10-0 after the first quarter and 27-13 at halftime before they were shut out in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, UNT scored two touchdowns and made good on two two-point conversions to pull within the final eight-point margin but would get no closer.

Junior running back Ayo Adeyi led the Mean Green on the ground with 105 yards on 17 carries to make him the 13th player in program history to eclipse 2,000 career rushing yards. It was his fifth 100-yard rushing day of the season and the seventh of his career.

UNT will return to action on Friday night in Dallas when it travels to SMU for a game at 8 p.m.
