As much as he gets kicked in the nuts and causes calls for Jennings to come in, the dude has shown real leadership. He overcame a rocky 1st Half and has team positioned for first Conference Championship since Pony Express.

He’s growing into a special player as a Sophomore.

He's a sophomore ... but yes, you can see him growing. Rhett Lashlee said after the game (video coming this evening) that "you can see him growing up" as the season unfolds.

From my standpoint on the sideline, the maturity was evident when SMU went up 10 with a few minutes left, and he went to as defensive teammates as possible, asking g them to "finish! Finish!"

After the game, he was as animated as I've ever seen him - celebrating with his teammates and then leading the Mustangs over to celebrate with the PonyFans who were there. You can tell this team and its success are important to him.

He's our version of Brett Favre...imminently frustrating at times, and then amazing at others.

I am impressed that he is accepted as a leader, and that he is getting wiser as this year progresses. Hopefully today was a next BIG step in that progression.

He showed more disicpline in the 2nd half. Stayed within himself and used other receivers instead of trying to hit the long ball every time.

He was also helped tremendously by better play calling in the second quarter (finally started running the ball).

Preston Stone is figuring it out. He is only going to get better and better. He has only started 12 games and SMU is 10-2 dating to last season in his starts. Just wait until he is a junior and senior.

I would like to add no turnovers to the conversation. I think the expectations have been a little too high for him, and he made the plays in the 2nd half that won the game. Let’s be happy. I’m very happy with where we are and what this team has accomplished so far.

Preston Stone selected for the “Small Sample Heisman” on today’s release of the Yahoo Sports College Football Enquirer podcast. (Dan Wetzel, Ross Dellenger & Pat Forde)

Nice things were said about SMU’s team and their plan for the ACC next year. It’s good to be getting some national attention.

The upside on him could be enormous.

Just keep doing what you are doing, Preston.

Interesting seeing Bo Nix up there. Seems like he's been playing in college since God was a child.
