Fun interview. Good listen.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

At our awful Frisco Bowl appearance I was sitting at the hotel bar and he sat down next to me. I didn’t realize who he was but we struck up a conversation and when he told me his I, of course, recognized him. He was very philosophical about his football career and a very nice guy. He even bought the drinks.
Long live Inez Perez!

He has always been a nice, fun guy.

I would love to hear some of those firepit stories after some tongue oil!

I may have some of those same memories

Great group of guys - A TEAM.

He was at your tailgate before the Frisco Bowl. He invited (I think it was Allan Adami) and me to go fishing with him if we ever go to his ranch.

He was one of the great passers in SMU history. Maybe a bit of a Good Time Charlie but then who wasn't back in the 70s?

I went to that game vs. Penn State at Happy Valley. We passed the ball a bunch. But Jo Pa got the win on Todd Blackmon's shoulders.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

Lots of nice memories. That includes seeing the comeback over Baylor in 78 i Waco. Also seeing the
a victory over Arkansas in the last game of 1980 to get us to the Holiday Bowl in style when he took over for,an injured McIlhenny.

Got my mug in the background of an Athlon Southwest Football magazine picture from the Baylor game.
May the forth be with us.

Finally listened, that was great. Fun to hear about the pre-Pony Express days when Ron Meyer was first laying the groundwork with guys like Ford and SMU would travel anywhere and play anyone anytime.
