Stone Named Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Semifinalist

TYLER, Texas – SMU quarterback Preston Stone was named a semifinalist to the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award in a release by the Award Selection Committee on Wednesday.

This year's candidates include eight running backs, seven quarterbacks, and four wide receivers. Eight different conferences are represented.

Stone has had a breakout season in 2023, setting career highs with 3,197 yards passing and 28 touchdowns before suffering a season-ending injury against Navy. The Dallas native was a three-time AAC Offensive Player of the Week selection this year and was named to the All-AAC Third Team.

The Dallas native's passing touchdowns rank 10th in the NCAA and powered an SMU offense that ranks fourth in all of FBS in scoring at 41.8 points per game. Stone's stellar play helped lead the No. 25 Mustangs to a 10-2 record, including going undefeated in conference play.
