After a couple of tweets indicating that SMU was headed to the Fiesta Bowl, it has been announced that Liberty will face Oregon.

Still awaiting word on SMU

The NCAA didn't decide in SMU's favor? No way.

As Gomer on Andy Griffith would say, “Surprise, Surprise, Surprise!”

Never let these idiots back in Dallas again. Bunch of buffoons in a conference room. Actually, I think buffoons would do better.

Me thinks Liberty is going to get smoked in that game. Would love to have seen how this SMU team might have competed against Oregon

My brother and sister-in-law are Liberty alums, and I still hope their team gets absolutely annihilated by Oregon.

SMU was ranked only 25 by the playoff committee. Maybe the ponies were down graded because starting the QB broke his leg. In that case SMU got rated the same way Florida State did - if you lose your starting QB then you lose out on the bowl bids. A matchup with Liberty versus SMU would have been an interesting game if the two teams could have gotten a big pay out from some bowl.

It was all but a given. Why? The playoff committee long ago decided it would screw over undefeated FSU to give the SEC and BT what they want: which is total control of the playoff. So, screwing the undefeated ACC champ means that they can prove they are not biased against undefeated teams by choosing Liberty over SMU, which also shows another shot at the ACC, which is joining the ACC for next year.

Committee used two things. One, they dropped #17 Tulane out of the ranking. Thus, e really didn't beat a CFP ranked team. Then they added us just behind Liberty. Use the excuse of Stone being out and viola, Screwed SMU again!

Family can make turrible choices and still be family.

If FSU got picked and Liberty, I would get that. But they applied two different criteria to those two picks. Don’t get how NC State AD chaired the Committee that screwed over the ACC. He said decisions were unanimous.

Family loyalty doesn't extend to college football. Everyone in Texas knows that! ha ha

Fresno smoked NMSU 37-10 in the New Mexico Bowl last night adding fuel to the "strength of schedule" debate. Liberty's 2 wins against NMSU were their most impressive wins but now they don't look all that special. I hope Oregon smokes Liberty in the Fiesta leaving everyone wondering whether SMU would have been a more worthy opponent. Of course, we need to take care of business in Boston or it's all moot
