Fenway Bowl vs. Boston College

Postby birddogger » Sun Dec 03, 2023 4:09 pm

Per 247.

BC had the fewest wins of any ACC bowl-eligible team. This confirms that we needed to leave the AAC, as it lacks any quality bowl alliances.

Not meaning to be negative here. This is a wonderful team and we've had a great season. We just earned more that we received. 12-2 sounds pretty good, though!

Do we have to accept that invite?

What a total joke. Going from the Fiesta, where we should be, to Boston in the middle of winter against a team that would probably beat Liberty.

You say joke, but I’m missing the part where we are supposed to be laughing

Apparently we're not getting a lot of love from the ACC. They designated BC for this bowl but haven't selected any other teams for the other bowls yet. I understand that ND is holding things up, but why did the conference pull the trigger on the Fenway Bowl so early? And what did BC do to make the conference mad and keep them at their equivalent of the Frisco Bowl?

Tulane thought they would go to the Fenway Bowl. The BHam Bowl seems preferable for the AAC winner, excluding NY6 of course.

Essentially a home game for BC so there will be at least a few thousand in attendance. I would have preferred Duke or Clemson (the latter would have traveled well). At least we will know how this SMU team would fare against a middle of the pack ACC team with our backup QB running the offense

For a Boston in December game the ground game will probably rule, so we will be fine with Jennings.

I am truly disappointed we didn't make the Fiesta Bowl; however, the results of the game with Boston College a middling ACC team, may be the precursor to our 2024 fate in the ACC. It will be interesting for sure !

That’s the reason to care about this game.

I hope we finish strong. SMU with a convincing win, can finish in the top 15 nationally. Also, our recruiting is going to be just fine. The same outfit has us number 11 in the country and number 2 in the ACC for 2025. If you blame someone, blame TCU for being so terrible.

Just think, all this hard work to get to a Power 5 conference so that we, too, can go 6-6 in the future and still get to the same bowl game where we had to win 10 games to get in when playing in a Group of 5 conference. Ridiculous.

Still proud of this team for a helluva season. Now go out and decimate BC!

Ditto
Highlander

Outdoors, cold and we did the New Mexico bowl. Me and wife are not that young to freeze.

Watch party if this is truly our bowl.
