Miller Selected To East-West Shrine Bowl

DALLAS (SMU) – SMU senior Jordan Miller received and accepted an invitation to play in the 99th annual East-West Shrine Bowl on Feb. 1, 2024.

The nation's oldest college football all-star game will be played at Ford Center at The Star in Frisco - the Dallas Cowboys World Corporate Headquarters and Training Facility. The game will be broadcast on NFL Network.

Miller becomes the first Mustang to be invited to play in the game since Hayden Howerton and Jaylon Thomas did in 2021, both players are currently on NFL rosters for the 2023 season.

The Jacksonville native made his presence felt on the interior of the defensive line immediately this year, starting all 13 games for one of the top defenses in the country. Miller's play has resulted in the Mustangs ranking in the top 20 in the NCAA in key categories like rushing defense (18th), scoring defense (12th), team passing efficiency defense (13th), team sacks (2nd) and total defense (12th).

More than 100 players from last year's game signed with professional teams this spring, and more than 70 made final NFL rosters last season.

Players are selected based on their potential to make NFL rosters. A consensus of the 32 NFL teams is taken into consideration during player selection. The general divide used to assign players to the East or West team is the Mississippi River. However, exceptions are made to ensure that the best players are selected for the game, regardless of the location of their school. Players must be college seniors and currently eligible to play for their school. All divisions are considered.

No. 17 SMU looks to go for its 12th win of the year when they take on Boston College in the Wasabi Fenway Bowl on Dec. 28 in Boston.

Good for him. He has been the anchor in the middle of the defense all year.
Hope Jefferson or Lockhart can be that guy next year.
