The games are meaningful any way you slice it. SMU blew it and showed the
nation the committee was correct.

Isn’t it easier to recruit when you don’t get blown up by a 6-6 Boston College team?

Hey now, NIL isn’t performance based

Lashlee's BONEHEAD 4TH down call in our own territory is costing us this game. Similar to the OU game.

....that is not what is costing us this game.

Yup, the QB #1 did his fair share.

We won't sniff a conference title for a few years.
Hope we can be competitive in the ACC sooner rather than later.
The next year or two might be challenging, but not unexpected.
It's all good....part of the journey.

Super frustrating game, but we were not overmatched and this was not a harbinger of how things will go next year. First drive we are marching down the field with ease and then fumble the ball. Rain cranks up and we continue to make mistakes all game on both sides of the ball. We didn’t lose because of the refs, but that was a horribly officiated game.

Give BC credit. They brought more pressure on Jennings in the 2nd half and he didn't respond well. He appeared to have taken some shots and was a bit gimpy at times and there were opportunities for him to be more decisive and run to pick up significant yardage while helping to keep the defense honest but as others have noted, he either threw bullets that were tough to catch under the conditions or air mailed long throws. We had no answer for containing Castellanos and he's faster than any QB we faced this year. Will be interesting to see how we fare against this team in Ford next year.

I have to stop coming to these things. I think I might be the problem.

Ponies are better than Eagles but it didn’t show today.

SMU didn’t seem to sack the QB like at Tulane.
Definitely a home field advantage. Pony fans were overrepresented at the House of Blues tailgate party.

After pondering this overnight, a few thoughts:

1. When you're playing in the rain on sloppy turf, with all things being equal, a running team will have an advantage over a passing team.

2. All things weren't equal. BC had the refs, we didn't have Stone. (Jennings played well for a backup -- key words for a back-up -- but not well enough to win in that environment.)

3. A lot of long balls were dropped that wouldn't have been dropped in dry weather, and more balls would have been in play if Stone had been throwing them. Easily two touchdowns worth of catches and a 28-23 win.

4. Castellanos will be in Dallas next fall, so we'll find out if my hypothesis is correct.

Sloppy conditions usually minimize or eliminate differences in talent and speed, and did so at Fenway. Plus, BC seemed (I hate this phrase) to "want it more."

We got beat on both lines of scrimmage, which is rare for this team.

Play this game in hot/dry conditions at Ford next year, and we win, maybe big.

So what happens if we replace artificial turf with real grass (good chance we do) and it rains on game day. Should we forfeit?

I suspect part of it maybe we were playing in a baseball field. In baseball, they cover the infield when there is standing water on the field. There was definitely standing water on the field. Maybe football has thicker grass. I’m not sure but can’t argue the cold, windy, northeast weather in late December had an impact. I don’t expect Dallas to experience the same weather when we play during the regular season.

Please explain. Real insight or just a hunch ? I've always thought having a grass field is preferrable (unless indoor stadium which we don't have to consider).
