He had me until he mentioned the Big XII. ESPN shares rights to Big XII with Fox. Why would they want to water down what's left of the ACC with the Big XII toaster leavins'? If Clemson and FSU can break the GOR and leave at the ACC, perhaps UNC, Miami and UVa might eye another conference, but would they get invited? Their TV footprint for football is not that great. Hoops for UNC and UVA is higher. So, if ESPN wants to broker a deal, it can, but the SEC has two schools ready throw down blackballs on Clemson and FSU (FL and SC). The B1G is a candidate, but FSU and Clemson are not academically in their league. Lastly, ND has an interest in keeping the ACC alive and ESPN could lose 2 ND games in such a reorganization. Their ratings are much higher than FSU and Clemson combined. The key to all of this is for the ACC to take the SMU, Stanford, and Cal monies and give the bulk of them to FSU and Clemson or come up with a formula which rewards TV eyes and move on. This is just a shakedown precipitated by a terribly stupid national championship selection committee which put Liberty ahead of us, and let other schools jump FSU which was undefeated.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

The fact that the source for this is that guy from West Virginia should tell you all you need to know. That guy is a joke and has absolutely no credibility.

There will be a lot more discussion about the future structure of college football in particular and possibly college hoops. So many "traditions" have already been abandoned and undoubtedly more to come. This takes me back to the 80's and cable TV coming in and changing the landscape. Back then there was talk of a 64 school super conference with teams broken down regionally. That could still work with the "promotion/relegation" model with 8 teams (regional winners) advancing to the playoffs to determine the national champion. And...do you continue with bowl games for non-qualifiers or consider another tournament featuring as many as 16-24 teams playing for a lesser championship (like basketball's NIT or the current FCS playoffs for that matter)? Do we really need as many random bowl games as are being played today?

That may well be true but when it does, the story won’t be broken by some b12 troll.
