Carthage WR has his choices down to SMU, A&M and LSU. We need him.

We are competing with some serious schools there. Let's hope that if we are on his list this late in the year that we can get him, he must like something here if we are one of the three, surrounded by two large programs. Come to SMU, Corey, you will make a difference!

There were rumors circulating a couple of weeks ago that Cavan had received a commitment from a Texas Top 100 player, but he (the player) couldn't tell the media because he hadn't qualified for admission yet. Wonder if that player was Roberts, because according to some lists, he's the only Texas Top 100 player looking at us, at least right now. I think he has since qualified, and I hear he and Kris Briggs are pretty good friends. But can we fight off the Aggies and Tigers?

For those who may think Cavan is keeping this info a secret, by NCAA rules neither Cavan nor any other coach can make any comment about any specific recruit by name until they have signed their letter of intent in February. The only way we know of any recruit's commitment is by the recruit telling someone in the media that they have made a decision. That btw IS allowed by the NCAA. Actually it may be just as well that our good (top 100) recruits keep a low profile...otherwise the other schools would be all over them.

SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
