Hope all of the above players turn out to be studs but let's not forget the BIG MEN. SMU needs 8 to 12 large quick players. Come on Cavan and staff - YOU CAN DO IT!!!

That Stansbury kid looks like a hell of a player, on paper at least. That is a great pickup for smu

We do need two kickers, with Vadheim gone and with Walterscheid and Crowley being so inconsistent. Let one of the new kids take over the placekicking job and the other can punt.

I agree, we badly needed some kickers. However, if we do not get some o-linemen with size these kickers are going to be kicking from 60-70 yards out. I just do not understand why we are not putting all of our efforts into linemen. We have one right now when other schools have at least 3-5 or more.

Or there's UT, which has commitments from eight, I think, and only one of them is under 300 pounds. They got a commitment this week from a kid who's 6-7, 348. How good would he look in Red and Blue?

Sounds like a great start, but I echo what BUS says -- bag the speedy little guys and get some HORSES for the lines!

I've heard that the Vinson kid is an amazing athlete. Anyone know about him?

It really isn't that difficult to grab the "Big Men", because SMU has done it in the past. A Few years ago SMU had on of the biggest lines in the nation, and they helped produce really nice numbers. I also remember that none of these guys were "Blue Chippers". The trick is not to chase all these high talent kids who look good on paper, the trick is to find a big kid who has a competitive attitude about him and kills himself out on the field. I'll take that over someone who was rated great and projected to sign with some top 25 school. It is the coaches job to mold that kids raw talent to fit his attitude. One more thing, STOP RECRUITING OUT OF CALIFORNIA. All your little cali studs are going to stay in California or go to a ranked school. That's my opinion, but if you look at it we haven't had much luck with those guys. Plus we can't get any of them to break the 275 pound barrier. Hope yall enjoyed Texastang's formula for success, give me some feed back.

Several of the Rivals.com sites are referring to Klein RB Earl Morris as a soft commit to SMU. I know Trey Griffin visited the same weekend as Earl and he told us that he thought Earl had committed back then. The recent posts on Rivals100 & Ketchum's ite both indicate Earl is committed but still looking with a couple more visits scheduled.

Not so fast, my friend!

Earl Morris may look a little more, but count on it - he'll be in Mustang Blue and Red in the fall!

Actually, I wasn't dismissing his chances of going to SMU, but trying to add him to the list posted at the beginning of the thread. Nobody had mentioned him in the responses to the original list so we did.
