Recruiting philosophy?

Postby Phil Fan » Fri Mar 15, 2002 7:26 pm

Is there any possibility that once Coach Bennett is in place for a full year that SMU will start to go after a JUCO player or two next year? I read about the changes in the recruiting policy that went into effect last year, but I wasn't aware if Coach Bennett was going to be able to do like he did at K-State. Anyone know?
Thanks in advance

Good idea, but I seriously doubt it will ever happen.

JUCO candidates (for SMU) are rare because I think they have to have 24 transferrable hours per year. Page was an exception, because he started at Cal (where he redshirted) and came here with 3 yrs of eligibility.

A lot of the stronger JUCO players are there because they did not qualify to go where they might have originally committed (insert name of your favorite football factory here). I would not anticipate SMU signing many, if any, JUCOs unless there is a major change in our admissions policy.
