Nice list, Corso. There are some fine players there. Some thoughts about the players I've seen:

Brett Hicks is an outstanding prospect. He's got the big frame coaches covet, and is very strong, although he certainly can add more muscle to his long, rangy frame. He has a strong arm with better-than-average accuracy, and throws timing routes very well. He's not a speedy runner, but definitely has adequate speed, and has the ability to make would-be tacklers miss.

If Anthony Barnett can bring his old Carter teammate, Danny Cobbin, to SMU, the Ponies would begin to stockpile players like Coach Bennett had at Kansas State in David Allen and Kevin Lockett - small on paper, but very fast and elusive. He can return kicks, and also has good hands and runs routes well.

Look at the speed listed for Steve Richardson. I knew he was fast, but didn't know he was THAT fast. He's a little small, maybe, but you can't coach that kind of speed.

Marcus Martin of Fort Worth is an outstanding prospect from a school that churns out D-I prospects every year. He's a little raw, but he's still growing and will will get lots stronger. With improved footwork, and improved bend in his knees and hips, he could be a starting offensive lineman at just about any Big 12 school.

Cedric Cofer is a load. For a man his size, he's extremely quick and agile. At 300 pounds, he won't get pushed around, but he needs considerable time in the weight room to allow him to collapse a pocket on his own. He's a relentless player who goes full-tilt on every play.

Nasio Toutai would be a great addition in Coach Bennett's defense. He's very fast and fluid, changes directions well (making him a terrific pass defender on tight ends and running backs coming out of the backfield) and is stronger than his size might suggest. He's also an instinctive pass rusher who can blow by blockers who have a huge size advantage on him.

TaTa Thompson is made for Coach Bennett's defense. Has good size and speed, and is very strong. Instinctive player who always seems to be around the ball. Coach Bennett and his staff will have to do a great recruiting job to keep him away from the big boys.

Alton Widemon is a tall, fast corner. That alone will get him some scholarship offers. He's a bit raw, but shows natural ability. He's a fierce hitter who can run all day, seemingly without ever getting tired. If he bulks up, he could be an effective safety at the college level.

Keep in mind that it's still extremely early. It might end up that SMU gets none of these players after the coaches target a new crop of players. But from what I'm hearing, SMU has a legitimate chance at Layton, Cobbin, Richardson, Martin, Henegan, Toutai, Thompson, Widemon and the two safeties from Dallas Skyline.

Keep in mind, too, that Cobbin is a friend/teammate of SMU signee Anthony Barnett (who after he committed to SMU helped recruit some of the other players SMU signed in February), and that Toutai is a friend of SMU signee Robert Gilmore.

Richardson is too fast to pass up.
And we've got to sign any player named "TaTa."

I think Richardson is taller than 5-9.

From what I read, Layton, Widemon, Thompson, Kimble, Martin and Richardson are must-have players.

And I say Coach Bennett can get at least four of them.

Marcus Martin is a hell of a player. I've seen him play a lot of home games, and he's a real tough blocker. I've been reading on this site that the offensive line is kinda weak, and he'd be a big help.
