Some players to keep an eye on from Coach Bennett's target geographic area:

QB James Battle / Denton ( Ryan), Texas-- Thought of as the top run/pass QB in state.

QB Devin Williams / Arlington ( Sam Houston), Texas-- Bigger and faster than Battle.

QB Matt Flynn / 6'3" 220 Tyler (Lee), Texas-Did not have great numbers as a junior but being heavily recruited.

QB Robert Lane / 6'3" 215 Monroe (Neville), Louisiana--Being recruited by most of the big boys in DI.

Edward Anderson / RB/LB Lafayette (Northside), Louisiana-- Has size and speed that has attracted the attention of numerous schools in the south.

Adam Bates OL/deep snapper / Edmond (Deer Creek), Oklahoma -- very capable lineman that has a 34 on the ACT , which has over 20 DI schools attention.

WR/DB Christian Merritt / South Lake (Carroll), Texas-- 6' 185 4.5--Moved in from Trabuco H.S. of Orange County in California, where he had 100 tackles as a strong safety as a junior. Also was fifth in Orange County in receiving with 26 yards per catch.

DB/WR Jarad Biggs / Edmond (Memorial), Oklahoma -- Fast cover corner whose height and speed (6' 4.5) is what DI coaches are looking for to match up with taller wide receivers. Also an outstanding baseball player.

OL Lucious Alexander / Austin (LBJ), Texas. Huge lineman that is getting attention from more than 30 schools already.

QB/Athlete Donovan Woods / Oklahoma City (Millwood)-- Regarded as one of the top all-around athletes in 2003 class. Has two brothers at Oklahoma State.

OL Brian Zimple / 6'5" 310 Broken Arrow, Oklahoma-- Many say that he is the top lineman prospect in Oklahoma for 2003.

OL/Deep snapper Buddy Combs / Tahlequah, Oklahoma-- One of the few OL's that was invited to OU's junior day a week or so ago.

TE Tony Hill / Alief (Elsik), Texas-- Powerful blocker who is regarded to be the best TE prospect in state. Many think he is one of the top 10 prospects in Texas.

DB/OLB Derrick Lippert / Edmond ( North), Oklahoma--Very good versatile athlete that has a nose for the football. Has started since he was a sophomore in the state's largest classification.

Kicker Kasey McDonald / Edmond ( North), Oklahoma-- States top kicker. Deadly from within 45-yard range. Five game-winning kicks since soph season.

RB Andrew Alexander / Lawton (High), Oklahoma -- Led the states largest class in rushing as a junior with over 1,800 yards. The most explosive Rb that we saw in person in Oklahoma H.S. games last fall.

QB Paul Smith / Owasso, Oklahoma -- Threw for 21 TD's as a junior after leading his Edmond Deer Creek team to state championship as a Soph. ( Dad is the head coach).

DE Jarvis Moss / Denton (Ryan), Texas-- Some regard this stud as the states top recruit for 2003 race. Also a big-time QB on his team.

QB Kevin Kolb / Stephenville, Texas-- Big John Harrell's teammate that had good numbers as a junior, but needs to lead this powerhouse father in the playoffs.

RB Courtney Tennial / Glenpool, Oklahoma-- Played a lot of the year with badly injured ankle and still impressed everyone who saw this 5'10" 210 stud last season.

WR Nathaniel Russell / Waianae, Hawaii-- Younger brother of of Utah standout Cliff, who was drafted in April by the Washington Redskins in the fourth round.

QB Kyle Clopton / Norman, Oklahoma-- Played WR this past season while Wake Forest signee and Oklahoma's top QB Zack Taylor did his thing. Same scenario as the Shreveport Evangel's Brent Rawls and Brock Berlin.

RB -Andrew Pearson / Oklahoma City (Crooked Oak) Oklahoma led the state as a junior in rushing and TD's with over 3,000 yards and 38 TD's.

Athlete -Roger McLain / Jones, Oklahoma. Big-time player in a small school. Plays RB--QB-- DB. Greet quickness and speed.

OL Chris Finn / Moore (Westmoore) Oklahoma. Tough lineman that will be state heavy weight champ in wrestling in the largest classification.

RB Drew Crawford / Hominy, Oklahoma -- Led team to state title in 2001 with over 2,000 yards and 37 TD's.. Look for a pile of yards from this RB in 2002.

John Harrell MLB/DT Stephenville, Texas, Star on the field and on the screen for one of the most decorated programs in Texas.

Robert Meachum / WR/Athlete Tulsa (Washington), Oklahoma. He and Zaslaw (see below) will be the top two recruits in the Sooner state for 2003.

Aljuan McQuarters / Athlete Tulsa (Central) Oklahoma, Great bloodline, may be the best punt return man in the country if he can make the grades.

RB/LB Dane Zaslaw / Edmond ( Memorial) Oklahoma, 6'2" 240 runs a 4.6 and vertical 35 as a junior. Can do 185 on the bench @ least 35 times now. Oh yea and he made the Oklahoma all state list as a punter as a Jr. SEC defensive coordinator says "Dane is the best prospect at linebacker that he has seen in years".

Kris Gray RB/DB Edmond (Deer Creek) Oklahoma. Our first sleeper of this years recruiting class. One of the fastest kids in the state with great feet.

If Devin Williams is bigger and faster than James Battle, I say we should go after him.

And is Aljuan McQuarters the younger brother of R.W. (now of the Chicago Bears)?

Brian Zimple would be a great addition for SMU. He's start right away, I think. I've seen him play, and he's a man among boys every time out. If we could get him away from OSU and the Sooners, that would be a huge pickup.
