that's a very "telling" list. You have to be diaappointed by the fact we aren't getting interest from DFW area linemen. It's not going to happen until we see some improvement on the field. This 1st season will be critival for Bennett & Co to establish some credibility that SMU's program can, in fact, be turned around.

Charleston Pony,
You missed my point! This is NOT a LOCAL list. These are NATIONAL lists. This is the first time in many, many years that we are getting attention from National lists. These National lists only list the top players in the country -- not locally. We are looking great!

Hey 50s - are you saying the guys on that list all have interest in SMU? If not all, do you know which ones?

From what I've heard, at least these guys on your list (and maybe more) have at least some interest in us:

QB Jordy Bernhard - Coppell
QB Brett Hicks - Bandera
WR Marvin Byrd - Flower Mound Marcus
WR Eric Walz - Keller Fossil Ridge
WR/DB Steve Richardson - Garland
OL Bryan Turner - Tyler Lee
OL Tobi Kaiyewu - Sugerland Dulles
OL/DL Marcus Martin - FW Dunbar
DT Cedric Cofer - Desoto
DE Khalid Al-Jamal - Manor
DE Desmond Jones - Dallas Carter
LB Chris Hyek - Baytown Lee
LB Chris Miller - Coppell
LB Ryan Henegan - FW Nolan
LB Nasio Toutal - Euless Trinity
LB Aaron Shanor - Azle
LB TaTa Thompson - Garland
S Nick Fellows - Dallas Skyline
S Calvin Brown - Dallas Skyline
S Jason McQueen - Jasper
CB Kelon Davis - Austin Bowie
CB Stephen Hodge - Dallas Lake Highlands
CB Danny Cobbin - Dallas Carter
CB Alton Wideman - Lindale
CB John Kimble - Dallas Skyline
K/P Zachary Myatt College Station

-----------------------------

From what I've read, the most important players from that group would be Byrd and Richardson at WR (or in Richardson's case, perhaps DB), Kaiyewu and Martin at OL (unless Martin switches to DL - in which case we still can use him), Cofer and Jones on the defensive line, Hyek, Toutal and Thompson at LB, Brown and McQueen at safety and I've read that all five of those corners are strong players. Think the NCAA will let us sign 40 this year?

Chris Hyek is a great player, and would be a big addition to the Ponies. I hear the Aggies like him a lot, and UT has some interest, so he might be tough to get. But he'd be a great fit at SMU, if the new defense is anything (scheme-wise) like the run at Kansas State.

Marcus Martin is a monster and can play college ball right now. If there's any way we can get him to SMU, that would be incredible. But a lot of other schools want him, too.
