TWO MORE CommitmentsGot this from today's Dallas Morning News:
SMU adds two to commitment list 10/22/2002 From Staff Reports SMU has received oral commitments from Arp wide receiver Blake Warren (5-8, 170) and Scurry-Rosser offensive lineman Kenard Burley (6-4, 310). Oral commitments are nonbinding. The first day a football player can sign a national letter of intent is Feb. 5. SMU's commitment list is now eight. WAY TO GO, COACHES!

Can anyone help with that? Thanks
Re: TWO MORE CommitmentsThat's GREAT news! Hats off to the coaches.
I'm with Corso - where are those towns? Fountain of youth

Re: TWO MORE CommitmentsWhere's BUS on this one?
By my count, we have another 880 pounds of offensive linemen coming in - so far! "What kind of weirdo school are they running over there in Fort Worth?"

Re: TWO MORE CommitmentsFYI:
Arp is about 10-15 miles southeast of Tyler, in East Texas. Scurry-Rosser is southeast of Dallas and DeSoto, and Southwest of Kaufman, Texas. [This message has been edited by Silk (edited 10-22-2002).]
Re: TWO MORE CommitmentsBlake Warren
Rivals100.com Rating: 2 stars 5' 7" 163 lbs. 4.5 40 Kennard (two 'N's) Burley Rivals100.com Rating: 2 stars 6' 5" 308 lbs. 5.2 40 Couldn't find any specific info on these guys except that Burley was named a 2A OL district honorable mention his SOPH year! Whoa, will be interesting to see what he acomplishes when he's not facing kids two years older than he is. "It's a couple hundred million dollars. I'm not losing sleep over it." -- David Miller
Re: TWO MORE CommitmentsBlake Warren was being recruited by a lot of schools in addition to SMU: Arizona, Memphis, Texas A&M, Wisconsin, TCU and Baylor. From what I've gathered, he already had offers from Memphis, Arizona and Baylor. According to several A&M websites, the Aggies were very interested in him, too.
Kenard Burley also had offers from TCU and Baylor.
Re: TWO MORE CommitmentsYea, where's BUS? You'd figure he'd be the first to point out that this 17-18 year-old offensive line is bigger (on average) than our current starting lineup.

Re: TWO MORE Commitments5.2 is pretty darn quick for a guy Burley's size. I guess that's the kind of guy Coach Bennett was talking about when he said he doesn't like fat guys on his line, but if he can find a quick player who's also big, that's even better.
Re: TWO MORE CommitmentsBig offensive linemen.
A growing stable of talented running backs. Sounds like things are getting back to the way they should be. GO MUSTANGS
Re: TWO MORE CommitmentsThat's great to see. Eight commitments and it's still October. And from what the experts are saying, this class is head and shoulders above the classes in years past. Keep it up!
Re: TWO MORE CommitmentsBlake Warren is one of the most exciting players I've ever seen. For everyone who thinks he's too small, that won't be a problem. He's like Chris Cunningham, but a little quicker. He's not as muscular as Comet, but he's a very instinctive football player - he can find seams in a defense, and he catches everything that's near him. And once he catches the ball, he's very good at making tacklers miss him.
Re: TWO MORE CommitmentsThe muscle will come - wait until The Diesel gets ahold of him!
