Onu and Johnson already get a lot of snaps in the secondary-should be a seemless transition. I too wonder if Johnson ends up at CB

Johnson has 35 tackles on the year only 2 less than our starting MLB for gawds sake and is 8th on team in tackles

Onu has 27 tackles-the same as our starting CB Horace Richardson and is 11th on team in tackles. That's a lot of tackles for freshmen

Others are Sutton (CB), maybe even somebody like Collin Rock? at the other safety spot. Good news is that we have some depth there building, which we've always lacked on defense post DP. We've had stars here and there at different positions but I'd like to see us go 2 deep at DL and secondary with high quality (I think the DL will be there next year, secondary is getting there)

I totally agree. In terms of competing for an AAC title (and a New Year's Day Bowl spot), the DL and the Secondary (2-3 deep) should be "there" next fall.

Unfortunately, the LB rebuild hasn't seen much progress.

The current 2/3 deep is:
WILL Jackson Mitchell, Matt McNew: Jackson Mitchell will be gone. Furthermore, McNew hasn't been able to push him for PT and only has 2 more tackles than me.
MIKE Anthony Rhone, Carlos Carroll: Hopefully, one of the RS'ing players (Spears) can push for playing time next year.
STAR Kyran Mitchell, RC Cox, Jordon Williams: We improved at this position this year and I expect more improvement next year. Jordon Williams and Mitchell should have the position locked down for years (unless one of them moves to Mike/Will).

Pretty sure I recall him suited out against Memphis. I assume that just means he was passed over on the 2-deep.

Even if Morris stays, it is going to be a crazy time up to signing day with UH,UT, BU, and possibly SMU, Rice, TAMU, and Tech going through coaching changes.

One blessing is that we won't have a large number of spots to fill

I wonder how many would follow him and how many would stay because we are a better school etc.
I would imagine that the new coach could have a big impact on that as well.

I suspect none leave our existing team to follow Chad. Many reasons to pick a school beyond the coach and...... Not the kind of talent he is looking for to make BU competitive in the Big 12. AAC talent but by and large not upper tier Big 12 talent. How many players do we have that had offers from OU, OSU, UT, TCU, TTU, AND BU- very, very few. We compete against KU, ISU, KSU in the Big 12.
So, not worried at all that we lose transfers to BU.

This late in the season with no commitments I am sure he will take the best of what we have.

Yep, as mentioned I think The Brewers at the least are likely to go with him. Alan Ali looks like the rare kid that committed to a school and not just a coach, so I'm going to hope we can keep him. Who knows about the rest of the kids.

Funny that we didn't hear a peep about Chad trying to bring a single recruit from Clemson with him, but I bet he'll have no problem poaching from SMU's class if he wishes to.

Little different convincing kids primarily from southeastern states holding multiple P5 offers to come to Texas and play in a G5 conference versus convincing Texas kids to stay home and play in the Big XII. I'm sure he at least tried with some of Clemson's guys (we did get a DT transfer from SC). We can only hope some of the current recruits like their chances of PT at SMU better and that they actually like the school more than the coaching staff.
