Huh. Just posted on the recruiting board that he was considering UT before seeing this. You've seen something to confirm this?

confirmed by several sources but based on comments by his coach Hank Carter

Tough loss but we've already got quality depth at TE and I love Corey Rau who redshirted. Its not a crippling loss-let's go get another stud to replace him.

If it makes you feel better, Houston lost its 9th commitment and 5th since Herman left in the LB Marqez Bimage and Trestan Ebner decommitted from TCU-(that's his 3rd or 4th decommit)

I would bet that Chad's grip on Charlie Brewer is now tenuous at best.

right now based on the schools that have offered (including Baylor) I think SMU still gets Charlie Brewer-but its a long way to the first Wednesday in February-actually if he wants to be an early enrollee he has to decide by first day of class at whichever school he signs with

Agreed Stallion. I just hear talk of other B12 schools jumping into the fray soon. I really hope that he enrolls at SMU. I am honestly, pleasantly albeit, surprised that Morris' flirtation with Baylor hasn't cost us more recruits. Losing Cade Brewer was a blow but considering the depth at that position, as others have stated, not a devastating one.

most schools got their QB commitment 10 months ago but you do have to watch out about the unintended consequences of Coaching changes (and resulting late decommits). I haven't heard of any legitimate reports of other Big 12 schools offering Charlie other than Baylor which I fully expected

When he signs with UT then he is committed.

Judge everything at the end.

Rau looks the part and don't forget about 14 who played a little early this year, TE is not a big concern.

So many good QBs coming out of Texas this year. Could be some trickle down if commitments change, but I expect it to be pretty stable.

I agree as well but Coach Morris says they are committed when they make a verbal commitment to a school and will pull a scholarship if they even visit another school. Cade was scheduled to visit Texas so he probably got his scholarship pulled. WDNWHA committee should have this well in hand.

Um...

Can the WDNWHA committee rule on whether or not the rule applies to commits to other schools who visit our campus such as UH commits who we are possibly looking at? Thanks.

That would be a question for the Houston WDNWHA Committee. They can have their own guidelines.

As I have always said in our case, we will always allow the athlete to make their announcement before we reveal the decision we gave them. We have given Cade Brewer our decision but will not release it until he makes his statement.

Cade just made it official on Twitter. I bet we rebound with a damn good TE to replace him.

On the bright side, he mentions in his tweet that Charlie is going to SMU.
