We'll take them anyway http://www.texasfootball.com/dave-campb ... exas-2017/ Last edited by Stallion on Wed Feb 01, 2017 10:17 am, edited 18 times in total.

Re: Texas Football Top 500Really like the O-line and I think we will find some players in the DB signees. Was really disappointed about not filling the LB need better....we have to find a couple of transfers/juco guys here still.

Re: Texas Football Top 500This question is for Stallion:
Given our 5-7 season, does this class meet your expectations? I'm frankly disappointed we didn't have a top 2 AAC class. Great staff, great recruiting area, great academics ....... Horrible fan support. You follow this closer than anyone on this board so your thoughts are much appreciated . Pony 81
Re: Texas Football Top 500
Other schools in the conference have great staffs and great recruiting areas plus most of them have better fan support. It shouldn't be that surprising that we finished mid-pack. They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

Re: Texas Football Top 500This is an ok class. No bad, not good. On field product hurt, but the real issue was the trickle down effect of top Texas players leaving the big 12 and Texas and Baylor looking to fill their classes quickly resulted in some guys getting offers to Big 12 schools that in years past we could have hung onto. Without question this is our most impressive list of decommits since the DP. Progress
Re: Texas Football Top 500we have been poor or average for 30 years. We will get better fan support when we do better.
Re: Texas Football Top 500actually the history of SMU Football shows we'll get better players when we get better fans
SMU fans make this job twice as hard Mustang Mania came BEFORE Dickerson/James-BEFORE winning at all. SMU has never in its history built a conference football championship before first having strong fan support. That's a little fantasy that people that don't understand SMU football- keep throwing out there Last edited by Stallion on Thu Feb 02, 2017 10:12 am, edited 1 time in total.

Re: Texas Football Top 500
and coach Morris alluded to that by pleading with those in attendance to come out and watch Courtland Sutton play next year while mentioning how important it is for players to have fan support
Re: Texas Football Top 500
I was there and agree. I've always felt it was a waste of funds to do another Mustang Mania campaign if your end-product stunk. This is not the case now. Team should be entertaining and competitive. Now is the perfect time to launch MM2. SMU desperately needs it given its weak home schedule. To do nothing means a team that probably goes bowling, has anemic crowds (I can see securing a bowl bid at a home game with 15k in the stands), and then a year from now recruit a class only slightly better than this one.
