and now that we've offered, wouldn't be surprised if he gets some more looks from P5 schools. Call it the "believe in Chad factor"

He is rated the No, 28 Player in Louisiana in the Nifty 50 Louisiana Team put out by the Times Picayune-which generally would easily translate to a solid 3 star. After checking out his video I think he likely blows up. This kid is an ATHLETE who at 6-2, 280 can chase down most QBs and cause havoc in the backfield. 25 TFL for a junior interior lineman is outstanding. (ex. The guy we signed in the 2017 Class who I think is a major project had 6 TFL last year). From Nifty 50:

No. 28 Kemon Smith, DT, Northshore, 6-2, 280
Smith has yet to generate the kind of buzz his talents call for, but that will change in due time. He has a quick first step, a nasty disposition and shows pretty good strength. Smith made a ton of plays behind the backfield for Northshore this past season, often shooting a gap and snatching up ball carriers. He could develop into a solid interior pass rusher in time.

Kemon picked up a preliminary 3 star on 247 (only 1 of 4 services rating so far which I believe is the 247 rating)

Love this commit, love me some DTs. Would be my first priority in building a program. (other than just speed in general). Control the line of scrimmage on defense and beautiful things start to happen everywhere.

A good early get for Stang Gang '18....now we gotta get some big, fast, head-hunting (do I automatically get a targeting penalty for even typing that?) LB's. Was really hoping we would pick up a JUCO or Grad. Transfer LB for this upcoming season.

comparison to Ken McLaurin's highly acclaimed Senior year at Denton Ryan which I believe was 14 or 15 games in 6A (2015). McLaurin had 21 TFLs while Kemon Smith had 24 TFLs as a Junior in 10 games in 5A highest Louisiana Classification. Heck its more TFL than the No. 1 DT in the 2017 Class-Marvin Wilson (19) and about the same as the 2nd DT in Texas Class Damion Daniels (26) and they both played private school competition. His video shows the athleticism and quickness to match his stats-I'm pretty sure SMU got a steal here
