Man just found out from a non-SMU board that another major school is visiting with Cameron Phillips in next few days-but haven't seen that out in public yet

Visiting ASU tomorrow - Not good to have Tempe have last impression. The scenery there beats the scenery here.

I assume you are now referencing that another school is in the mix.

"Oh man, it was amazing, to say the least," said Jones of his visit. "Like absolutely the best thing I've ever seen. The campus, the people, the location, the football facilities. Everything was just top-notch."

Would think that Coach Dykes would be effective in retaining commits vs Cal - but you never know what those at Cal had to say about Coach Dykes to convince the switch.

UT offers Christian Jones as an Offensive Tackle which I've been saying is his natural position when all the recruiting services were talking about him as a DE-he didn't even play DE as a Senior. NFL potential as an Offensive Tackle. I thought he had the highest ceiling of any recruit on our list. he'll commit to UT if possible because he's been waiting on that offer all year

Yep, Chad has already proven his ability to find talent.

Stallion, how do you think our current recruiting class will end up?

It’s one thing to find talent and another to get them to sign. No one questions Chad Morris’ ability to identify high end talent early on, but we lost this type of player to P5 schools last year too. All that matters is who is on the roster in August. June Jones signed many great players that never even set foot on campus because they didn’t qualify.

It is always interesting to see how many are actually signed as part of the "Stang Gang 2018" and to see what the final list looks like compared to the original list. Chad & Co always lost some of their top recruits in the 11th hour so why should we expect any different under Sonny? That's just life at the G5 level. I don't expect to see too many guys come in right out of H.S. and be ready to contribute right away but always hope for a JC or GT to fill a critical spot or at least to add depth.

Our latest commitment makes me think it is either feast or famine with the players in this class. We need some more pleasant surprises in the next few days to improve this class. We’ve lost 4 commitments from Morris departure that I think are substantial losses and added 2 commitments from Sonny Dykes that I see as substantial gains. We need a few more substantial gains but also need to improve on the body of the class such that we land players that at least have G5 offers.

Last email I saw, it looks like we are at #91 in the country... I’m sorry but how is this exciting? This is also around the averages that Sonny had at LA Tech. I’m starting to think my worries are becoming more of a realization.

We got a commit in the last couple of days that's higher than anyone chad ever landed.
