Significant Changes Coming to Recruiting Calander

Postby Stallion » Tue Jan 16, 2018 11:16 pm

had to happen because with an early signing date-official visits were back-ass backwards. Recruits need to be able to take official visits to adequately analyze their options and can't really do that during high school football season. Next years class will likely be able to take their official visits starting this spring--in a few months. Also, they will likely curtail targeted contact with recruits at camps and/or unofficial visits before September 1 of their Junior Year. Ex. SMU had been targeting 2019 No. 1 QB Grant Gunnell from Houston at its camps since he was a freshman. In the future schools would have to treat all camp attendees similarly until their Junior year

also apparently high likelihood of essentially transfer/free agency and immediate eligibility if a player meets academic requirements. Why invest in the development and recruit a freshman-especially a freshman lineman who generally take 2-3 years to mature -if this is so likely to pass next year--this maybe why SMU is recruiting JUCO lineman because they think this new provision will be applicable to the 2018 Class. Quite frankly this may funnel more high school lineman toward JUCO Football because a 2-3 year investment may go down the drain if a kid decides to transfer.

Great, making kids sit out a year is BS. Unforeseen consequences.......sure, some good, some bad. Won't be the end of the world.

Terrible for G5, who knows? Maybe some of those high 3 and 4 star guys sitting on many, many P5 benches will opt for a G5 transfer instead.

Bring it on.
