What About Jankovich?

Michael Jankovich has not committed to any school at this point.

I think he would make a contribution here as a backup. He would not take up a
scholarship because of his dad's tuition benefit.

I think he is rated as a 2 star recruit, but the kid did have a decent scoring average,
plays good defense, and goes after rebounds. As I have pointed out before, he did
hit 30 points and pull down 10 rebounds in a state playoff game this year. He is
6ft. 3in - 4in and is a good athlete.

Does anyone have any inside information? Hoop - what is your take on the young man.
Is the problem that dad doesn't want to have the pressure of trying to coach his son?

since every kid recruited out of high school (not to mention their parents) thinks he should be given every minute of playing time in every game, why give them (and every fan) the nepostism card. then theres the reality that no college coaching job is really "secure" more than a year or two at at a time. would like to hear what you actual coaches out there think.

Any 2* that doesn't take a scholarship is an absolute no brainer. Hope he wants to play for his dad.

Well, I assume he has never played for Dad at any level so who knows whether he really wants to...not to mention the question of minutes. Would he rather be someplace he will get starter minutes?

WASN'T THIS ISSUE TALKED OUT IN ANOTHER THREAD SOME DAYS BACK? I SEEM TO REMEMBER A COMMENT ATTRIBUTED TO COACH JANKOVICH THAT HE WOULD HAVE A HARD TIME COACHING HIS SON. THAT, NOT TO SAY CHARLESTON PONY'S VIEW, TO ME SUMS IT UP.

PRESUMABLY YOUNG JANKOVICH COULD BE ADMITTED AND I DOUBT THERE IS AN ECONOMIC BARRIER TO HIM ATTENDING THE SCHOOL OF HIS CHOICE. AND YES, HE HAS THE OPTION OF A FREE RIDE AT SMU AND CAN WALK ON IF HE WANTS TO PLAY COLLEGE BALL AND WANTS TO STAY IN DALLAS.

MAYBE HE'D LIKE TO GO TO SMU WHETHER HE PLAYS BALL OR NOT. SOMEONE ELSE WOULD BE BETTER SUITED TO TALK ABOUT STARTING AT SMU AND THEN MAKING A DECISION TO TRANSFER SHOULD HIS DAD TAKE A COACHING JOB SOMEWHERE ELSE.
