Erin and I will be there. I hope they have the bar open and some snacks.

I like Dykes!

If someone has the time, I'd love to hear how the recruiting event went today.

Room is filling up. Lots of good buzz about the class.

Great event, and a full house. Lots of enthusiasm in the room from coaches and fans.

They handled it a little different this year by inviting media and allowing them to ask questions.

I will post something detailed later, but IMHO, there might not be pure all stars in this class, but overall this is easily the best class since the death penalty. Top to bottom. No reaches.

The strategy of the staff is much more effective in the past. Every class since the death penalty has had anywhere from 5-12 good recruits, and then the rest of the class are DITR.

The philosophy of this class is to sign 15 good players in the early period. Then swing for the fences until the second signing day, hope you land some of the Ikes of the world, and then use the remaining scholarships on the vast number of players who want to transfer back to Dallas from power 5 programs. It is a great equation. As strong as this recruiting class was, it is going to get significantly better because of transfers by the end of the season.

I don't want to get anyone in trouble, but I've heard that a very important GT committed right after the event tonight.

The new transfer rules are really helping SMU.... It allows us to be more selective at the high school level because we have a large pool of GT who are from the DFW and want to play in front of family. Plus our business school attracts kids who want to get a good degree on the resume.

It certainly allows us to migrate up the talent ladder in our conference more so than in years past.

I realize that business majors like business school, but I wonder how many football players are actually attracted to it.
