So...a total of 4 P5 offers so far for the 1st 9 commitments. In the past, many on this board would be bashing our coaches for taking so many DITR recruits. Time will tell how many of these guys will develop into quality D-I players and whether this coaching staff will be the group to finally elevate the program to a level where we can consistently compete with Top 25 programs. Hopefully we will have the same problem Chad Morris had, i.e., guys showing well in their senior seasons and attracting P5 offers after they had committed to SMU but hopefully Sonny & Co can hang onto those guys.

The QB and Safety both had P5 offers. The LB had a dozen D1 offers. The rest are offensive linemen with good size and may be redshirted, so if they are not P1 material now they may be in 2 years.

This isn't like the June era when DITRs didn't have D1 offers. I remember one of June's offensive line summer commits who didn't start for his HS team his junior year.

Last year's recruits definitely had more offers.

This year is a completely different approach. Shoot very high, and then if you miss, take the players that match the analytic model regardless of offers.

These recruits aren't DITR from a ratings perspective. Many are from an offers perspective. The reason for the difference is that the ratings guys also love analytics. So it kind of meshes with their perspective of the world.

It will be telling how many of these players pick up additional offers as the season goes along and more teams get film.

Quite possibly it’s growing apathy in our athletics, it will be interesting to see attendance this year at Ford.

Those 4 P5 offers are misleading IMO as they include Kansas & Vanderbilt, as well as an Arizona offer on a 5’7” athlete. Also a Utah offer. Big yawn.

Contrast that to Coogs, who have 5 commits, everyone of whom has a P5 offer.

UH P5 offer list - Arizona, Boston College, Kansas St, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Penn St, Tennessee (2 offers), Texas A&M (2 offers) & Virginia. 13 P5 offers in total, several high quality offers.

Big advantage once again to Coog High.

to update SMU vs Houston, the 1 true school we should compare ourselves to:

SMU - 10 commits in total, 3 commits have P5 offers, 7 commits with 0 P5 offers.

SMU commits w/P5 offers - Arizona, Kansas, Vanderbilt & Utah.

Houston - 8 commits in total, all 8 have P5 offers.

Houston commits w/P5 offers - Arizona, Boston College, Kansas St, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Penn St, Rutgers, Tennessee (2 offers), Texas A&M (2 offers), Texas Tech, Utah, Vanderbilt, Virginia (2 offers) & Washington St (2 offers).

They have the hype of a new P5 coach. Our staff did a great job on their evals last year, with many kids picking up offers and getting ratings boosts as the year went on. Just have to trust them.

Based on the number and quality of transfers, it appears to me that the high school recruiting rankings don't reflect the upgrade in talent.

Question for those who know more than me...with the transfer portal now, is recruiting out of hs make as big a difference especially for non p5 schools?

H.S. recruiting remains important but as Sonny said in his recent comments, transfers who come in with more than one year of eligibility are what he and his staff have targeted. Can't take too many guys who can give you only one year...those guys have to be immediate impact guys.

12 signed so far; don't see Bell or Sharpe on this list but I thought Sonny said he expects a few more to sign early? Like the JUCO additions.
