Add RB Brandon Epton Jr. to the mix. Picked SMU over Cal, Arizona State, Perdue and TexasTEch.

The prospects of having an SEC caliber defensive backfield is too exciting to even think about. And there's even still the belief that we have an outside shot at Wheaton, who would play from day one, and we actually are forced to redshirt TX top 100 recruits.

Looking through the prospects we've offered on 247 sports, the overwhelming number of them fall in the TX Top 100. There isn't a single Diamond In The Rough among them.

Honestly, I gave the Sonny hire a B+ when it happened - I believed he could put a decent team on the field and we might have some hope ahead. But I didn't think he'd be able to actually really hope at turning the program around. The prospects have completely changed for us.

It’s early, but SMU has the 2nd highest ‘avg ranking per recruit’ in the state behind only UT.

Very encouraging.

And I'm hoping Sonny will be with us for the long haul. He seems just right for SMU.

In many ways he kind of reminds me of Hayden Frye. Hope his long term results are much better.

Hayden Fry had a terrific 20 years of coaching...after he left SMU. One conference championship in his 11 years at SMU but he won 4 more at NTSU and at Iowa. Would love to see Sonny surpass Hayden's 232 wins as a college HC. Long ways to go from his current 56-56 record as a HC
