SMU adds walk-on safety

Tripp McAda (5-10 / 170), of Sunnyvale High School, announced on his Twitter account that he will be attending and playing football next year at SMU. He is listed online as a safety and linebacker, but on his Twitter account, he identifies himself as a safety.


Senior stats
Passing: 103/167 (.617 completion percentage), 2,026 yards, 27 TDs, 4 INTs
Rushing: 106 carries, 681 yards (6.4 yards per carry), three 100-yard rushing games, 9 TDs
Defense: 102 tackles (53 solo), 6 passes defensed, 1 fumble recover, 2 fumbles caused

I love that type of player as a walkon. Best athlete on his high school team. Dad was starting QB at Army, and apparently Tripp won the QB award at Army's prospect camp.

Was checking to see what accolades he received. Noticed there was a sophomore at his school that made all district offense and defense and was also named McAda. Probably just a coincidence.
