Terrible week on and off the field. At least we are not as bad as we have been in the past.

Nothing terrible about losing out on a true blue chip player like Byrd. Glad we were in it. Speaks well about our recruiters. Plus, we are about to sign the best QB in Texas.

Yes, but we are still little ole SMU. A cute little G5 program that wins a few games and gets invited to the Weedeater Bowl.

Glad you’re not out on the trail for us.

Likewise! I expect much more from SMU than you do. We need to move past the stage of being content with mediocrity.

Byrd can always transfer back if things don't work out for him at OU. Stranger things have happened. Hope Preston Stone can convince Austin Uke to join him at SMU

Nobody is content with mediocracy.

We are building a program. It takes time.

First, you get quality starters.

Then you have quality starters, with young potential behind them.

Then you have quality starters, talented Jr-So backups, and young talented frosh behind them.

Transfers and some recruits get you to stage 1. A really good recruiting class on top of that base gets you stage 2. That is where we are today. Back to back really good recruiting classes get you to stage 3, which is conference favorite level. Covid kept us from having more development in last year's class, so next year is probably still stage 2, but we are quickly stage 3 in 2022. That is where you are competing for conference championships consistently.

Oh I get it, and am looking forward to 2022 and 2023, but how many times have we been a year and a half away from competing and have it fall apart? With the two disappointing losses to end the season, the inability to contain COVID-19 to play our last game of the season and then force the cancellation of our bowl game, and now losing a prospect we had as good a shot at signing as anyone in the country that is a local recruit and an area of great need I am disappointed. I know it's not as bad as it seems but right now I feel like we are just treading water and anticipate the team to regress to 6 wins next season due to growing pains. We've seen TCU, Baylor, Rice, Tulsa, Houston, and Memphis win several conference championships over the last decade and we have yet to win one. This native is getting restless!

Deja vu all over again; we are just one and a half recruiting classes away!

24/7 has him as 3rd in the state and has been falling for almost 2
Years.
