Another Manning. It is clear to me those other schools should just concede now.

At least the program is getting more attention these days. Some talented QBs and WRs have come out of SMU in recent years.

Does Sonny Dykes or Garret Riley have some connection with the Manning family?
Interesting to see us on that list.

I think there must be. I want to say that Eli Manning considered SMU back in the day.

Yes. Three Dog Night did a song about it.

You have to be a subscriber, but there's a great article on The Athletic about Arch's recruiting:
https://theathletic.com/2623221/2021/06/01/the-courting-of-arch-manning-im-wide-wide-open/

And then there are the perceived outsiders: Virginia, North Carolina, Notre Dame, SMU and Stanford. You could make a case for each as a neutral choice if Manning ventures outside the SEC for college.

“I’d definitely consider somewhere like Virginia or SMU. Obviously, it’s not as big, but great people, still great coaches, and something a little bit more my speed, I’d say, kind of in terms of off-the-field stuff.”

That would be all about his "blazing his own trail". Obviously it has been shown that you don't have to play P5 football to make it in the NFL

The Isidore Newman five-star took in the Mustangs' campus on Thursday, getting an opportunity to talk football with head coach Sonny Dykes and offensive coordinator Garrett Riley. Per sources close to the Mannings, things that stood out to the Arch were small student body, the cool architecture on campus and being in a neat area in Dallas. The 6-foot-4, 208-pound Manning who also sees the prolific offense including talented receivers year in and year out that the Mustangs take the field with on Saturdays. The Manning family really hit it off with Dykes and Riley and had a good time visiting with them.
