I read somewhere that somewhere between 10 and 20 percent of those who enter the portal will find new teams.

If they are motivated by the prospect of earning playing time elsewhere, most need to understand that they can get an education at schools that compete at a lower level whether that is FCS where they could still get scholarships or at D-II where they might at least get partial scholarships

More guys on their way out including TJ McDaniel. We can only hope everyone in the portal is being recruited over

Maybe he's still injured but McDaniel wasn't getting carries even with Camar and Gardner hurt at the end of year...

Yep. TJ was getting buried in the depth chart and RB is a position you know SMU will pursue in the portal. Lots of injuries to deal with as the season unfolds

3 DT's and LB's.
Then on to O'line.

The 270 to 290 dline is too small for inside. We need 5 to 6 320 dliners. Two dt's at a time rotating.
Rushing ends could be smaller but not 219 to 230. Maybe that size at LB.

Need some NIL upgrades.
Pont Sports DTX If you are blessed to have some extra $$$. After school, After Church, After Charities.... Info@ponysportsdtx.com I think. I don't work there but that would be a cool job, I think.

God's Peace

Not to nitpick too much, but in the modern 4-3, you need a plug at the 1 technique and then more mobility at the two technique. You want 3 300 lb guys to rotate through at the 1 technique and then your 3 technique guys are in the 280-290 range. For example, if we had the right size across the board this year, Levelston would play on the edge as a DE at 265 and then Chatman would actually be a 3 technique instead of a 1 at 290. Instead, we played Levelston undersized at the 3 and Chatman undersized as the 1. The year before, in a down 3, you had Williams who had a great frame as the big NT and Chatman and Levelston played DE. Levelston was a little undersized for DE in a 3 man front, but we made it work.

So, give me 3 guys 300 and 3 more at 280 and I will be happy :). Sanjo has the frame to get to 300, so let him be a 1 technique, and then have Chatman, Wright, and Jackson as the 3 technique. So we need 2 300 1 technique guys from the portal.

I will accept what you said. At 62 I have a way that I think d should play.

In other here words... smash and hurt.
Dominate and hurt.

Love your input, you are way smarter than I will ever be.

Go Mustangs!

Love the fact that Lashlee has relationships with so many Miami players and appears to be bringing some to SMU. Plenty of Aggies looking for a new home. Wonder if we are in on any of these guys?

All I can say is wow. What has transpired for SMU in the portal so far has far exceeded my expectations and we’ve only just begun.

So far we’ve landed
HS 4 star Jaylan Knighton former Miami RB
All big 12 DB Charles Woods
Jonathan McGill DB stanford
HS 4 star edge rusher Elijah Roberts from Miami
Miami nose tackle Jordan miller
HS 4 star (0.97 247composite) OT PJ Williams from TAMU

SMU also had TAMU RB LJ Johnson officially visit today. He was a 4 star (0.97) and top 50 national recruit in 2021. SMU is currently edging out TCU as the favorite to land DL Tunmise adeleye from TAMU. Adeleye was a top 40 recruit nationally and had a 247 composite rating of 0.98.

I apologize if I missed anyone. I believe I may have forgotten a Miami WR transfer
