The other teams in the AAC are not just sitting on their hands in recruiting either. They are recruiting pretty well too. SMU could have a decent recruit class in general and still fall out of the top 4 or 5 AAC teams.

Truth. UH is stepping up to the big boy table. UCF will be there next year when they actually have Taylor, Dawkins and Fall. Temple is always pretty good. WOuldn't be shocked if UConn is back once they dump Ollie. This is a crucial offseason to change the roster up and get a big 2019 class.

One thing we learned from these past two seasons is that we really don't have the luxury of taking an undergrad transfer and having to wait a year for that player to become eligible...can't do that until we have the full 13 'ships back in play.

Too late now as next year is our last year of sanctions. Going forward it is actually a good way to stay competitive.

Not getting Maxey would be an embarrassment

Remember a couple of years ago, there were tons of stories of LB and Jank and all our coaches at the big tourneys, scouting players and making contacts with the coaches.

Those stories have disappeared the past couple of years, not because we aren't trying, but because of the restrictions we have had. It will be interesting see if we start hearing a ton of reports starting this summer of us back out and active and players in the game.

Mr. Tyrone Maxey is listed as "Director of Recruiting"

Who do you think he is recruiting?

I think the visitation and contact restrictions were over last summer.

Lol. Every time I think Maxey is going to go to UK, which I think he is at this time, I try to remind myself that his dad was hired mainly to recruit him here. Maxey could play close to home, for his dad, with some friends, and be the star. Have to think his dad can get him to SMU.

We really need him to bring some friends with him that can ball and won’t be one and done.

Everett Ray is on the current roster. Is he injured?

Would it help if some of the transfers were still on the roster for depth?
Sedrick Barefield (homesick?) -- averaging 11 ppg at Utah
Dashawn McDowell -- now at Seattle U (sitting out?)
Harry Froling -- Marquette -- worse yr at MU than SMU. 2/16 from three; 2/5 FTs and 3 ppg

Ray is out for the year. As for the other guys, Barefield might now be getting minutes instead of one of the frosh guards and Harry might be getting what could have been Ray's minutes. Of course if those guys has stayed, they would probably be injured this season and not able to play. Seems we are playing under some kind of curse this season.

Pringles would be tipping the scales at 320 because SMU didn’t feed him properly. And I’m talking about ego and ice cream.
