Just look at our recent coaching hires:

John Shumate: ZERO NCAA tourney appearances before we hired him.
Mike Dement: ONE NCAA tourney appearance before we hired him.
Matt Doherty: ONE NCAA tourney appearance before we hired him. That was a fantastic UNC team that he inherited.
Larry Brown: One of the greatest coaches ever
Tim Jankovich: ZERO NCAA tourney appearances before we hired him.
Rob Lanier: TWO NCAA tourney appearances before we hired him.
Andy Enfield (?): SIX NCAA tourney appearances before we hired him.

So this guy has two MORE tourney appearances than 5 of our last 6 coaches COMBINED.

Sooo... I am not sure what more we can expect...

And two sweet sixteen plus versus zero.

I think Enfield can be as successful as Larry Brown was in first three years. One round of 64 and NIT runner up. Then year four was ineligible due to recruiting violations.

What’s the holdup? Negotiating NIL funds?

to all of those smoking the dong etc. this guy will never be another LARRY BROWN.. he was a unicorn which we ran off.
I am disappointed if this selection is valid but SMU does what SMU.

If Miller orchestrated this hire, I have no objections. His leadership, BB knowledge, and wealth makes this possible and highly likely a very good move for us.

"According to On3’s Pete Nakos, SMU and USC have been working on details of a buyout, which has delayed the official announcement."

Apparently this move is a surprise to people at USC.

How wonderfully ironic it would be if USC replaced Enfield by poaching TCU's coach!

No, he wasn’t involved in the Lanier hire. He was working on conference realignment.

That would be absolutely hilarious. But their coach is a frog alum and not sure he would leave TCU for USC - that will be a major hot seat position in the B10 and he has it pretty good in FW.

He’s one of the best shooting coaches around (having also worked with NBA players) and an excellent recruiter.

A very important angle of this (if true about Enfield) is it sends a very clear message optically. SMU is serious, aggressive, and wants to compete $$$ at a much higher level than recent G5 conference affiliations.

Poaching a P2 head coach away while on current contract...still surprised we are actually doing this.

Hope the delay is negotiating a buyout with USC and taking top players + recruits --> Hilltop.
