The number of teams with a dominant pro style center in NCAA is less than 5; it may be one or none. We can dream like LB did, or we can play great college basketball with physical 6-7/6-8 guys who grab rebounds and drive the lanes.

How many pro teams today have an old style conventional center? Most of the pros are using athletic 6--7/6-10 guys who can run, play D and shoot from many places on the floor. The game has evolved away from the center dominated offenses of the past.

Agree. You can't have a big slow guy standing at the rim anymore.

Actually you can, if Shaq were a young man again every team would want him to build around. The reason the NBA doesn't have players like this is that AAU tries to make every kid that is 6'9 plus into Durant instead of a true center.

So you think shaq was slow when he was young?

Semi might go overseas after this year or declare pro and see if he is drafted and fall back on overseas. He will get his degree. There is some that think he will leave after this year if he has a good year. If he did leave it would leave us with a frontcourt of Froling and two freshman.

I want both Shake and Semi back, but would likely rather have Semi back, because Shake will go only if he is likely a first rounder so we would get the publicity and we wouldn't be forced to heavily rely on both freshman Big men for major minutes.

Probably a long shot but I guess it's possible Semi could grad transfer as well. Hope we can hang onto him for 2 years, though

The thing that confuses me about the semi leaving early talk is, if he was planning on that then why did he sit out last year? I guess possibly he changed his mind about leaving early since last year, but that would really be the only thing that makes sense.

Semi would have only had a half season of games for pro scouts to look at last year with no possibility of a post season. This year he will have a full season and he will for sure start this year. But who knows if he goes pro.

If he had played last year and left after this year he would have had a season and a half of games. Who said anything about him leaving after last season?

Semi is Nigerian with an amazing GPA. If he doesn't get pro looks, I would go grad transfer to a more reputable school for a one year master program. I would say MBA, but most good MBA programs you will need work experience.

I agree he could grad-transfer, but I think if he stays in College he will stay at SMU, unless we have a bad year or something changes. I just hear he is kinda tired of college student life and think with a good year he could at least make a good overseas team and start his career. Saw someone say and heard from someone else that Jank is trying to talk him into a 2nd year, but right now he is leaning towards leaving if he has a good year. Obviously, this could change. It is realistic that we lose him and Shake, but right now I think we have a better chance at holding onto Shake. Shake wont leave unless he is a 1st rounder.

I'm not in the know on this, but isn't there a chance he is already doing grad work at SMU this year? He is incredibly smart. Regardless, what I have heard is that he plans on being here for two more years.

No more rebuilding, only reloading. That's where you want to get to. Bball is there (this class is really proving that - have a good year and put together another top 20 class). Fball hopefully will get there very soon too.

I am not sure we will end up with a top 20 or 25 class unless the current recruits move up in the rankings. We have a low 4 star and 3 three stars. Still lots of recruiting to be done. I like that we got who we wanted this early.

I'm not as enamored with rankings. I hope the power forwards we have continue to grow.
