Exactly. Me too.

I don't understand why that concept is so hard to grasp.

Plus, we are already in what should be a major conference in basketball.

At the end of the day we will see whether people paid more for their seats and they should have. If they didn't then I think it raises questions about why they had to do it the way they did it and it shows that it was really about giving the bigger donors the choice of the best seats and had no actual increase in donations. If they made more per seats as a result then they may feel justified.

Of course we will never know. They won't answer the simple questions and they will hide behind the new structure of MC funding.

And yes, I think the AAC is a major BB conference.

Same boat here. Would’ve paid double if they’d asked, but I’m not throwing thousands of dollars at something with no idea what I’m getting in return.

No idea is either a big exaggeration or a sign of willful ignorance. It was not that hard that hard to have an idea of what you would get.

Not if you were in an area that could that could realistically be a popular price point.

Section 205, in the first 6 rows, on the aisle closest to center court. As a young alum, I did the priority points math, and it didn’t look favorable for me keeping such good seats. In fact, SMU told me it was unlikely that I’d be keeping my seats even if I bumped my donation up to the next level beyond what was required with the per seat donations.

I get the frustration of losing your seats to a bigger donation amount. And I completely understand not wanting to raise the donation level.

To be honest, hopefully the same thing happens in football someday. I might have to change my awesome seats, or I might have to up my donation. But at the end of the day, it is worth it if it is because our football program is actually successful and popular.

For me, I determine my donation budget yearly. So when the time rolled around for basketball tickets, I had made my donation and then waited for my time to select my seats. I was able to get better seats than I expected, so I made the purchase. No big deal.

There isn't a bad seat in the house. The corner sections (202 is mine) are awesome. They give a great angled perspective on the game that allow you to see all of the movement and passing lanes. And the crowd noise amplifies in the corner.

If you don't want to pay big money to sit in the middle, move over to the corner. Very affordable and well worth the investment.

You are right, there isn't a bad seat in the house (except for a couple in the rafters).

I think the last couple of years has really made me rethink my position on college sports. I've now dropped both my season tickets in football and basketball as a result. I will still be at the games but not as a season ticket holder. It's my choice, but basically I had a come to Jesus moment when I realized that I didn't have to feel bad if I didn't donate money to SMU. It's not my job to fund their athletic department. If they can't afford to compete in Division One then don't.
