SMU's Brown Faces 'Lack of Coach Control' ChargeModerators: PonyPride, SmooPower Re: SMU's Brown Faces 'Lack of Coach Control' ChargeFootball school
Re: SMU's Brown Faces 'Lack of Coach Control' ChargeOld news. And coach control ain't institutional. And he already 'faced' it. Ncaa has to call it something in their writeup.
Re: SMU's Brown Faces 'Lack of Coach Control' Charge
Yeah isn't this we pay Jank 700k for?
Re: SMU's Brown Faces 'Lack of Coach Control' ChargeThis is all so old, lets just move on. Nothing to see here.
That said, if Larry serves a suspension, can we petition to have last years NCAA tourney game count? He was only there in body
Re: SMU's Brown Faces 'Lack of Coach Control' ChargeI like this comment from Alex Karras (from the comment section following Yahoo article)...."This Frazier is the only basketball player in the entire country that was cheating. Imagine that. Who would have thought everyone was so studious ?"
Pretty much sums it up.
Re: SMU's Brown Faces 'Lack of Coach Control' Chargehas the Gonzaga game been announced? if its later in November maybe LB should just sit out like the 1st 3 games vs like Lamar, Abiline Christian, and Ark St, or whoever
Re: SMU's Brown Faces 'Lack of Coach Control' ChargeI'll fly to Indianapolis and firebomb the goddamn NCAA offices if we get a postseason ban and UNC gets nothing.
Re: SMU's Brown Faces 'Lack of Coach Control' Charge
Only "old" for those in the know. A lot of people don't know the outcome and are just seeing this information coming out. Anytime you start latching the term "Lack of Coach Control" around our basketball coach it will cause some panic and concern. The questions I want to know is what is the punishment and when will we get the news? The everyman out here just wants to know what apparently all the insiders already know. Otherwise going to be tough to move on.
Re: SMU's Brown Faces 'Lack of Coach Control' Chargeinsiders don't know either. NCAA is on their own time frame and we are all waiting.
Re: SMU's Brown Faces 'Lack of Coach Control' Charge
Come on now. According to several, for only $10 a month you too can have access to NCAA decisions before they even make them and know the commitment schedule of every player before they even go on visits.
Re: SMU's Brown Faces 'Lack of Coach Control' Chargethe news is old b/c you know the charges well before presenting your case, which is well before penalty stage, which is now. We self-reported and have been making moves, at their advice, to clean this up, for a year or so. The fact that DISD wasn't mentioned and it's confined to SMU is a blessing, even though they know about the secretary. Our goal has always been to avoid penalty for institutional control. Seems that we weren't even facing that, just coach control, which is also a blessing.
Just need it to play out quickly so we can capitalize on our new street cred
Re: SMU's Brown Faces 'Lack of Coach Control' ChargeWhat is up with the mysterious secretary?
Is this a secretary at SMU or in the High School? What is up with all of the 100s of other kids that came out of the same HS and landed at other Texas schools - some who competed in D1 as well? "Moral Victories Make Me Sick" - TR
Re: SMU's Brown Faces 'Lack of Coach Control' Charge
So how bad is the penalty going to be, in your estimation? Are we talking bad as in Larry is going away and we are relegated to the Doh years again? A couple of games suspension? Slap on the wrist and a scolding? I'm also assuming the street cred you talk about is/would be our ability to skip past this with little to no punishment. Thus solidifying us as players that know how to work the system with the handlers and the AAU circuit folks. Or am I way off base there?
Re: SMU's Brown Faces 'Lack of Coach Control' Chargewe are talking about an inner city DISD high school which has no magnet connection. Want to look at another-Dallas SOC had about 4 kids who are non-qualifiers although Jordan Stevenson may crawl through somewhere after being rejected by Wisconsin. NOTE: Frazier's offer list was very low in comparison to his rating. There likely was a reason. Its going to be worse in coming years with the stricter standards-especially in basketball-can you afford to take 2-3 kids that can't meet the stricter 2.3 GPA standard and will be ineligible as freshman much less meet the sliding scale requirements for admission. In football you can move kids around-in basketball not so easy due to size requirements and the fact that a higher percentage of players are needed to contribute

When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.
Re: SMU's Brown Faces 'Lack of Coach Control' ChargeI'm not going to say anything more than I have about her involvement but she was an SMU employee, since removed, much like Ulric. Slippery slope. As RGV said, all of this is old, cause we've long since faced the music and been cooperating. It was self-reported and everyone other than the general public has long since thought they've known the charges. Since this comes on the coach, not the institution, better yet.
